COVID-19 Construction Site Safety Protocols

The University is committed to the safety and security of all of workers, staff, and partners working on Western Washington University projects and to doing its part to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The University requires each project under construction to comply with applicable requirements issued by the State of Washington Office of the Governor.

Phase 2 of the Washington State Safe Start Plan requires a COVID-19 site supervisor, who understands the importance of minimizing the spread of COVID-19 and is knowledgeable about the site-specific safety plan. The COVID supervisor maintains the appropriate documentation for COVID safety plans and the Governor’s proclamations, updates the safety plan as new information becomes available, and has ultimate responsibility for safety plan compliance. The COVID site supervisor monitors social distancing, appropriate use of personal protective equipment, including face masks, sanitation and cleanliness protocols, and daily check-in and health assessment prior to entering the construction site.

Western Washington University has contracted with PBS Environmental, experts in workplace safety protocols, to review COVID-19 safety plans and to observe and document activity for compliance.
